Editor's Note
Winter, with its stark snow-covered landscapes and endless dark skies, brings a welcome sense of calm. The garden lies dormant, free from its usual demands, and the parade of warm-weather activities fades as the darkness of winter settles in. As a writer, I find inspiration in this seasonal pause — lingering by the fire with books that spark fresh ideas or taking evening walks under the inky sky to contemplate life’s infinite possibilities.
In this issue, we embrace the reflective spirit of winter to celebrate art and the joy of human creativity. Read about a glassblower from Whitehorse who channelled grief into art, an ice carver in the Rockies who proves that art's impact isn't defined by its permanence and a Toronto chef who finds himself inspired by social values as much as local ingredients.
I hope these stories spark your imagination and encourage you to let your own creativity shine this winter.
