Editor's Note

It was on a particularly wet camping trip that my husband and I realized the magic of a walk in the woods. We had woken up to a rainy day, a leaky tent and three soggy, whiny kids. After a damp breakfast, we tried to salvage the day by going for a hike. As we descended down into the silence of the moss-covered Acadian forest, the children magically quieted. By the time our walk was done, everyone was in a wonderful mood.

The healing power of nature is incredible.

Nature features prominently in this issue, with stories from the Bay of Fundy to the Grasslands of Saskatchewan to the coastal waters of British Columbia. We invite you to read these stories for inspiration on planning your next outdoor adventure.

But then put the device away and go outside. You won’t regret that walk in the woods.
