A View From Here:
Art, Food & Music in Ottawa

It can be hard to separate 'Ottawa the city' from 'Ottawa the government'. As the nation's capital, Ottawa inherently holds the burden of politics. But dig beneath the surface, and you'll find a city with soul.

Itinerary:
The Incomparable Canadian

Take a four-night journey through five provinces on the most epic sleeper train in Canada. Leaving from Toronto, you'll cross forests, prairies, mountains and scenic river valleys before arriving in coastal Vancouver.

Editor's Note

Years ago, on a winter family trip to Whistler, I watched as my young cousin sat in the snow and enjoyed an ice cream cone. His entire body shook from cold but he refused to let go. That kid had no fear of embracing winter.

The stories in this issue showcase Canadians who not only survive winter but thrive in it. They slow down to be fully present for each snow-covered moment. From long-distance dogsledding to paddling on a frozen river, there's a lot of adventure and opportunity wrapped up in winter. We hope this issue inspires you to embrace it in all of its icy glory.

Ice cream optional but encouraged...
